**What will your child be learning this year in math?**

Throughout the course of the year we will be covering all of the 3rd Grade Common Core Math State Standards. I have broken down the units we cover below.

September: Multi-digit Addition and Subtraction

October- November: Multiplication and Division with 0-5,9, and 10

December- January: Multiplication and Division with 6-8 and Multiplying with Multiples of 10

February- March: Fractions

April: Measurement, Time, and Graphs

May- June: Polygons and Perimeter

It is essential for my students to use the Math Practices in order to better understand the material that is being covered. These practices are included below.

**Technology Resources**

**We are fortunate to have one-to-one chromebook access in our classroom, so we utilize this on a daily basis. The students in room 23 will become fluent in using technology resources over the course of the 3rd grade. Here are some of the math websites that the students use weekly. They all have their individualized accounts to help them develop specific skills that we are working on.**

**What is Math Expressions?**

Math Expressions Common Core focuses on the priority core concepts at each grade level, identified by the Common Core State Standards, to build in-depth understanding of major mathematical ideas. Hands-on and inquiry driven, Math Expressions Common Core teaches students how to represent solutions and explain their answers. This approach helps develop problem-solving and reasoning skills. The strong emphasis in Math Expressions Common Core on representation and discussion opens up the world of mathematics to all learners.
